Its not necessary to take zofran right away. In my experience, it takes about 5 - 7 days before the nasuea will hit you. Zofran works great when taken on a regular basis. Ususally the first round of chemo is easier to tolerate than any subsequent doses. Ask your doc for the small zofran that is dissolvable or better yet, it also comes in liquid form.
One thing I learned about anti-nasuea meds is to take them a little bit before its time. If the label is take every 6 hours then at 5 hours its time to get another dose in. This way you will not let the nasuea kick in. This is how you can stay on top of the nasuea before it becomes impossible to keep the medicine down. If it were me, I would start taking the zofran at day 5 after the chemo. Of course, Im not a doctor just a patient who went thru this so please check this out with your doctor.
