You are not far from UCSF and Stanford cancer centers -- both are members of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, an alliance of 20 leading cancer centers across the US. NCCN member facilities are where the most up-to-date treatment protocols are developed.

At the very least, your dad should be encouraged to get a second opinion at one of those centers.
