Talked to the onc. today. Also pulmonologist. They are both concerned that Linda may not be strong enough for chemo. If we wait for her to get stronger, it's possible that the cancer will have grown too far to be treated. Usually surgery would be done to remove as much cancer as possible, followed by chem, but in her present condition she probably would not survive surgery. It's a slim chance, but still a chance, that she will get strong enough on time. Her lungs just aren't doing well. Holding on to hope anyway. Probably get her to UC Davis Cancer Center for another opinion. She is awake and more alert, responding to questions. She can't talk because of the vent. tube but going to try a trach and hopefully get the tube out soon. I know I'm jumping around here but my thoughts are not well organized. David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.
