History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!

Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,264 Likes: 5 | This suck BIG TIME. I'll say that because you are probably thinking it. I am sorry you have to face this again. It's a different cancer of course but still the same horror and fear. Ovarian cancer is VERY sneaky - it can mimic a bladder infection - so it's very hard to pick up. This is why it is so often caught in the late stages. There is treatment for it. - hopefully they get things into place and she can write survivor over this one too. I know it will be a long haul but you will get there. hugs and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 711 | Talked to the onc. today. Also pulmonologist. They are both concerned that Linda may not be strong enough for chemo. If we wait for her to get stronger, it's possible that the cancer will have grown too far to be treated. Usually surgery would be done to remove as much cancer as possible, followed by chem, but in her present condition she probably would not survive surgery. It's a slim chance, but still a chance, that she will get strong enough on time. Her lungs just aren't doing well. Holding on to hope anyway. Probably get her to UC Davis Cancer Center for another opinion. She is awake and more alert, responding to questions. She can't talk because of the vent. tube but going to try a trach and hopefully get the tube out soon. I know I'm jumping around here but my thoughts are not well organized. Thank you again for your continued support.
David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.

I am glad you are seeking another appointment and hopefully they will have some new information for you. You sound very well organized for me, and I know you are being the very best David you can be - the loving caring supportive husband that you are. Hugs. How I wish this was so different for you two.
