"Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 507 | Margaret, I know the feeling. My first follow-up PET/CT was last Saturday. I don't know if I will hear the result this Wednesday from my ENT, or next Monday from my MO, but the waiting and thinking about it bothers me.
It seemed like the scan lasted forever - I fell asleep. When I mentioned that to the Tech he said they were running me through it slowly to collect maximum data and also scanning my lower brain area (probably checking to see if I have one left).
On the good side, I had my first teeth cleaning today. The Periodontist said my gums and teeth look real good, perfectly normal and everything checked out fine.
They did what they called a "deep cleaning" that is apparently designed to get deep below the gum line - probably to look for rad-cavities. It also cost $40 more and the extra wasn't covered by my insurance! But, I got a big bag full of Biotene products and Oasis samples, floss brushes and the like.
