Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,128 | My understanding, which could easily be wrong, is that the PET scan shows hot spots as potential problem areas which are then examined in detail with the concurrent CT scan (or biopsy). The mere presence of hot spots is apparently only a 'Look Here!' flag.
