So sorry that things are so difficult right now. I hope that the coming days are better and that you have good news in your next post.
On another subject, is Santa Barbara as beautiful as I remember it? I was stationed at Vandenberg AFB from 1970-1972 and many weekends my wife and I would drive down to SB with our young son and dog and enjoy the beauty of the city. We have very fond memories of all the pretty sites and wonderful people.
