Platinum Member (300+ posts) Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 306 | Lyn, Your concerns about radiation are well founded. It is a very dynamic treatment and truly can cause some long term issues. BUT, its darn effective against cancer and it can do things no other treatment can do. I lost a few things to the ray gun, but I am here to talk about it. The whole "new normal" discussion comes in here, and we all have had to adjust to changes. But it isn't much more than just the changes of getting older and a bit stiffer here and there.
The treatment is tough, the effects are sometimes startling, but its only for a while. You have to fight hard and fight aggressively to beat this beast. Weekly check ups will NOT find this disease if it comes back. Only the scans and lab work can find it. There is life after cancer (and after radiation) Lyn and yours is waiting for you. I have had several years without doctors and waiting rooms and needles and drugs. We are with you Lyn, Tom J
