"Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 945 | Hi, Terri we also had a scare with my husband's follow up chest x-ray this summer - it turned out to be scarring that probably been present for decades. The PET's had picked this up, and our ENT said to not worry too much about it, but getting a big old ABNORMAL on the results is scary.
The lungs can be impacted by all sorts of things that will show up on an x-ray or CT scan. Inflamation and scarring can both result in a positive read and have nothing whatever to do with cancer.
Best wishes on the pulmonologist visit. Keep in mind that some sort of lung damage is pretty common - most people never find out about it!
