Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

In between, the leader is a servant. | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 1,940 "OCF across the pond" Patient Advocate (1000+ posts) | "OCF across the pond" Patient Advocate (1000+ posts) Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 1,940 | When Rob was in the hospice,the nursing staff offered to give him brandy down his peg,he declined because he could still swallow liquids.One evening when he was very upset by the reaction of his childhood friends at a party and he couldn't take anything by mouth,he had a large brandy via his peg.I will not comment on the rights and wrongs of these actions as i am sure there are many here who will jump right in with their opinions,as they did at the time i posted this two years ago.All i can say is of course you CAN take alcohol via the peg tube wether or not you WANT to is entirely your (or the person who does)own personal choice.

Coming from you, your "non-judgemental" response means a lot to me. You are too tactful to say I am just foolish or pre-alcoholic or driven by some inner demon, although at periods of my life I have been all of the above at once. No, it is meaningful to me because I know if there were demonstrated adverse effects, or tube disolving, or whatever, you would know about it and share that knowledge. My personal reason is equisitely simple, I have always had a Dionysian personality instead of Appollonian. Let 'em jump in - now that I am about to become a PEGster (true to form the last two years Georgetown Radiology has had tow "schedule delays" so now for late afternoon), Iintned to rock that boat too. evertbody has oinions, there just not as valid, insightful, nor cosmologically significant as mine. I would imagine that the effects might be faster as I notice that they are with some of my meds.
