I dont think I missed this, but sorry if I did. Where exactly is the spot in your mouth located? How long has it been there?

My cancer was a complete shock to me. I thought mine was a canker sore. Not trying to cause you any worry at all, just checking your symptoms. From my experiences here, dont think oral cancer is a heredity thing. I do know of one person here who has had several relatives with it, but thats the only one.

Hey, CCMominVA!

The one thing that I did for myself during treatment and recovery was to finish one of the degrees that I had been pecking at for years!

While I probably won't ever use the degree at my age, it was a good distraction and victory while I battled "the dragon". Don't give up your life goals, even if you have to delay them.

The cheers of my students, friends and family as I gimped across that stage still echo, and I might just finish other degrees that are nearly complete as well.

And as a teacher, I want to say...

Get to the homework! I wanna see an "A" [[:-)

Hey there!

The lesion is located behind my bottom row of teeth, on the inside of my cheek (sorry, don't know much about the anatomy of the mouth) on the left side. Not painful, not raised or bumpy, just white in color. The dentist was definitely taken aback, took lots of pictures and had some of the other techs come in to take a look.

UncleVern, good for you! Even when my Dad was dx'd with ALS, he continued on and finished his doctorate! I am definitely working towards that A and have continually been on the dean's list! smile

Now, back off to my schoolwork! wink

Alright...well, went back to the dentist yesterday for other issues stemming from the antibiotics he had me on. He asked me to go ahead and come in so he could take another look. It's still there, not changing from the medication, so it will be biopsied for sure. He changed the date from the 13th to the 12th, so looks like I'll be in next Thursday!

Thanks everyone for the replies and support, and I'll be sure to be back to update!

How long does it normally take for biopsy results? I forgot to ask the dentist about it!
