I have found using plain old vaseline at night works best for me in our desert climate. Inexpensive also.

But think of how much money would be saved in the long run by not needing as much deodorant!

Back in a former life, when I lived full-time in a small RV, traveling slowly about, I seldom used soap.

I would wipe myself down with yesterday's laundry and apply deodorant, wearing the clothes only once. I would also jump in any clear body of water for a rinse, but didn't want to pollute with soap.

As long as I did my laundry about once every seven-ten days, I was OK. In fact, after a couple of months on a trip to Alaska, I asked friends (after a hug) if I smelled and they said no!

Gee guys - thanks for all that interesting info. Are you all really 6 year olds pretending to be grown up?
Ladies - thanks for your input. I am trying to avoid gloss as it shows up those flakes.

Well if we ever do get together as a group, I vote for Petey and Jimmy to share a room at a nearby hotel. I just can't remember ever asking someone AFTER they hugged me if I smelled OK. In retrospect, shouldn't that question have come first? JM2C's

In that former life when I was just slowly traveling around the US and CA, I decided that I wanted to be a 12 year-old because that was a very good time of life, especially around water -- We would go in August for a month in a cottage on Lake George, NY -- My brother, friends and I would live in our bathing suits -- We never used the bathtub, just jumped in the lake a lot -- Drinking water came directly from the lake, so soap was a no-no.

If I asked the question before the hug, I might get skewed responses -- I wanted to know if people noticed anything without prompting.

Pete,

Thank you for bringing up some incredibly wonderful memories. My family, with about 3 or 4 other families, used to go camping at Lake George. We used to go off-season a lot when even the "facilities" were closed. You definitely don't want to forget the TP, because some of that vegetation you might have to use instead could turn out to be poison ivy, sumack, or oak! We all had and brought our boats and dogs with us. Mom had to get the water from the lake for morning coffee on the campfire.

Wow! The memories are just flooding in. Thanks again.

Lani
