Send those questions, friends, because I am now an expert, having been there and done that. I also still have a disgustingly fat but rapidly shrinking neck, but that is of small moment.

For anyone facing surgery (mine was retro molar trigone area and lymph nodes and a little scrape of jaw bone) I want you to know it will not be anywhere as bad as you expect, or at least in my case was almost a walk in the park. Started agitating for home on day three, and would have gone except for hourly pulse checks on graft which is a true marvel of microsurgery. On day 4 got a speeding ticket for power walking in the halls, so you can see this was not major awful.

This board provided me with such wonderful information that I cannot adequately express my appreciation to Brian and all others who answerd so many questions.

Will heal now, and although all margins were clean, will go for a course of radiation to play it safe.

Now I mean it: Ask me ANYTHING -- I am so anxious to return the terrific help I have found here.

I've been away from this informative website for about a month. My 49 year old sister had surgery on May 7 to remove a tiny cancer from her palate. They removed a portion of her palate; all of her teeth I'm sorry to say (she had beautiful, movie-star teeth); a portion of her jawbone; and lymph glands as a precaution I'm told. She also had skin removed from her stomach to build a new cheek. She did very well with her surgery but is now approaching the radiation treatment (June 17) and she seems more afraid of the radiation than she was of the surgery. It seems like the information I've passed on to her from this website has helped her; so I would like to hear your experiences throughout radiation, Joanna. P.S. I am with you regarding Brian Hill and this site...it's been extremely helpful in so many ways. Thanks for your advice also, Joanna and best of luck to you as you continue to recover.
