I am happy to announce that our own Eric Statler will be the featured speaker for the 2nd Annual San Antonio Oral Cancer Walk on April 14, 2012!! This will be his debut act!
So if you can make this walk, please come and support Eric and Elizabeth Sikon, walk organizer. OCF will be proudly represented once again!! Christine Brader was the speaker last year.

Whether it is emotional support or treatment information support offered here, or fundraising for the foundation's research work at events or online, those of you that give back are a special part of the OCF family. Both Christine and Eric are great advocates and supporters of the foundation. When they and the others here physically come to an event they put more than a face on the foundation. They expose its heart.

Put some of your dry humor and wit into your remarks. A favorite line I like to use to open my speech and that always gets a cancer crowd going is "the day I was diagnosed with cancer was the worst day in my life and the day I was told I was cancer free was the best day in my life". Everybody bonds with you.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Elizabeth, 33, mother of 3 girls (4,7, &8yrs old)
3 rds of chemo(Carbo/Taxol)
Rt Mandibulectomy, rt fibular flap,& rt ND with trach, picc,& g-tube.
30 rds of rads with weekly cisplatin
SCANS ALL CLEAR!

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

I'm working on my speech now, its been a while since I've spoken in Public so I want to make sure I still have some polish. I'm hoping to get to a few walks on the East Coast this year so maybe we can get a group of us together. I'll keep you posted!
