Husband Robin aged 44 years Dx 8th Dec 2006 poorly differentiated SCC tongue with met to neck T1N2cM0 Surgery and Radiation.Finished TX April 2007
Recurrence June/07 died July 29th/07.

We are all different, but my reaction to having cancer in my body was "GET IT OUT - AND NOT NOW....BUT RIGHT NOW!!" I hope Linda is feeling the same and in time will reconcile her losses with the "glad its out" feeling.

Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 711 | Had one last meeting with surgeon this morning. Thursday is the big day. We really like this surgeon. Pretty much all she does is breast surgery and she knows her stuff. Then went to the boutique that specializes in women who have had breast surgery and got Linda measured for a bra with a prosthesis. She's starting to be a little more upbeat about it but still cries when discussing it with any one. I just remind her that after thursday she will be cancer free and that's what really matters. That and "yes I will still love you without your breast". That one's a little tough for her to get past because as an RN she's seen too many men just get freaked out and refuse to even touch their wives after this surgery. I hope I'm stronger than that.
David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.

CG to Sister (42). Smoker quit @ diagnosis Dx 4/20/10 SCC T2N0M0, Rside of tongue Hemigloss R neck dis, all nodes removed 6/2/10, Trach and NG in, home 6/8/10,8/18/2010 start erbitux x6, 30 IMRT end 10/11/10 with only 3x erbitux due to reaction and one week off of rads

History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 711 | Spent the entire day at the hospital with Linda. My Mom and sister, both breast cancer survivors, came to lend support. I think we all know how much it helps to know others who have gone down that road ahead of you. The surgery went very well and the surgeon is optomistic about recovery. I don't know if I dare say that Linda is cancer free as this is a very devious, sneaky disease and I don't trust it one bit, but I am hopeful that it is so. Now the long process of recovery, physical and emotional.
