Perhaps we happen to not like what we hear from them, or just think it would be better to gather a 2nd opinion, and we want to travel to Houston to MDAnderson. Do they offer a discounted airfare rate for your 'consultation' visit and lodging? I see on their website that they do offer discounts to patients and family once in treatment but I was wondering if they extend that to patients that are visiting for the first time.
Any help would be appreciated. THank you for reading

Duke is a world class facility it's self.

Most airlines only have bereavement faires, however being in hotel management for most of my adult life I'll say that the lodging establishments are more likely to discount for you if they know it's a cancer related deal. It never hurts to ask and explain the situation, every place is different but generally hotels will work with you where the airlines can be heartless bastards.

It would be helpful if this info was put on a permanet post under financial. I guess the next list I will work on is places that help cancer patients. There is a list of OCF members under the friends tab for facebook.
Let us know if you got help from any of those sources. We have a tentative flight on Monday - our Dr appointment at anderson is Tuesday at 7am. All Im waiting of is her Dr to call them and give them clearance, stating that my Mom is able to fly without medical assistance. I cant believe a corporation like this exists. Its really going to help us tremendously as we're already planning on spending a fortune just staying in Houston. the last thing we need to worry about is $$$ on flights, delays, layovers and riding with 100s of other people. Im crossing my fingers that it all works out. Assuming that it does, I'll report back to you all with more details
