I lost Ron less than a year ago and this past Saturday was diagnosed myself with Colon Cancer (moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma). I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind around this. Everyone, PLEASE get your colonoscopies! I am scheduled for surgery (Right Hemicolectomy) on May 7.

We do not know the extent of the cancer at this time. I just had my CT today, but we won't truly know until after the surgery. The surgeon is hopeful that it has been caught early though.

If you are a praying person, please pray for my 3 kids, who really did not need this again, especially so soon. You have all been my friends through the last 4+ years, so I just thought I would let you know. I guess I should check out a colon cancer forum. I pray for good health for all!

Love,
Lori

Lori,
This diagnosis must be such a shock for you. After all you and Ron went through, it's so difficult to comprehend that you would get this news. As long as we are on this earth, I don't think we will ever understand the "Whys." Please know that everyone that followed Ron's journey through your postings will think of you with prayers and kind thoughts. Please continue to update all of us on how you are doing. Geri

Dearest Lori
i once heard that god doesn't give us more than we can handle. When i heard it i thought "what a crock".
This proves my point!!!This is cruel and unfair and you are right, that ball sure has hit you square on.It has knocked the wind right out of you and your'e on the floor. It is so much easier to pick ourselves up dust ourselves down and come out fighting for those we love .The fear of loss is so huge that no matter what we just have to keep on going day after day.

You lost Ron.I lost Robin, and it made my hatred of the disease all consuming.Lori please please please use that hatred now.Use it to pick yourself up and come out fighting.Use the pain of your children to give you the strength and the courage to fight it again, and don't leave this forum. You need us and we will be here.Your kids need support .Let them join and use us ..your friends to help them through this dreadful time.Colon cancer is not like oral cancer sweetie, all the money and research thrown at it has made the outcome so good in such a huge percentage of cases. You can do it honey.don't ever doubt that.

love and hugs liz

Oh Lori. I second or third what everyone else said - this totally sucks, but you WILL be fine and you do not need to find a new online community. While we may not be able to be that much assistance re treatment and side effects, we ARE here for you for everything else. We have been with you in the past and continue to be here for you.

Keep your chin up. I know many people who have had colon cancer and are just fine today, many years later. You WILL be one of them!

Hugs and keep us posted.

I just said a prayer for you and will keep you in my prayers and thoughts. Please let us know how you do - I believe once you are a member of "our" family, you are always a member. Everyone wants to hear from you. I'm fairly new, and I certainly do.

Dear friends,
I am humbled and so thankful for all of you. You have lifted my spirits and my resolve to kick this cancer in the ***. Liz, I will use my anger in a positive way--I have so much of it, as you know! And you are right that colon cancer is nothing like oral cancer. I do realize that my chances are much better than Ron's ended up being (and why does that make me feel guilty??). Thank you Christine, Geri, Lostpassword, Liz, Donna, David, Tommy and Julieann, and I will let you know how I'm doing.
