Hi,

It's been one month since Richard's last treatment. He is doing great with eating and normal activities. We are back to our 2 mile walks. He is also resting a lot and trying to pace himself. The one problem that is still painful are two mouth sores, one on the side of the tongue and one at the back and under. As you all know, every time he eats and talks they are irritated. He is very determined to eat and in the morning the pain is minimal, but by evening it's worse.

The MO said that they would get better as time goes on and they have. We saw the dentist yesterday and he said they looked like canker sores. He gave Richard samples of a product called Peroxyl by Colgate. The label says inactive ingredients ethyl alcohol 6%v/v. I know we are supposed to stay away from alcohol, but is this harmful to use a few times? I read the info on the forum about using peroxide with saltwater, but this product is in a packet and would be so easy to use. Does the peroxide burn? If it wasn't for these two left-over sores, Richard could wean off the Peg tube. The mucous is almost gone and the dry mouth is kicking in. His mouth and throat are still a bit sore, but bearable. We also think that dropping from 50 to 25 for the pain patch made the discomfort more pronounced. The Biotine products are working to help with the discomfort.

We are so thankful for his progress and take one day at a time. We are very lucky and hopefully in time the mouth issues will improve. Thanks ahead of time for any feedback. Geri
