I got a phone call from the oral surgeon who did the biopsy about 4 days after the biopsy, and he said, "Well, it looks like you've got cancer." He said he set up an appointment with an ENT (ultimately not the person I ended up seeing that day, but it worked out for the better) and then he said he was sorry and told me to have a nice day. Umm...okay. I then locked myself in the storage closet at work with my husband and told him and we told everyone I had a doctors appointment to get to and that was that.
Stephanie, 23, SCC on the right side of my tongue, surgery on 5-19-08, over half my tongue removed, free flap constructed from my forearm, bilateral neck dissection, one positive node. Radiation (32) and chemo (carboplatin) started on 6-16-08. Recurrence 4/09 in lungs.
