My husband went without health insurance for two years until he could get on Social Security and Medicare at 62. We owned our own business and only the two of us were on the policy. The premuims were hitting $1200 a month and he could not get another insurance because he is diabetic. We figured that if he got sick we would just work out a payment plan with the doctors and hospital. I was able to get Blue Cross because I was healthy.
