PEG is OUT! This morning Buzz saw the hemotologist/oncologist who did labs and confirmed that all is okay....then, on to the hospital for removal of the PEG...Before we went in, I insisted that Buzz take a WHOLE Oxycodone AND an Ativan...Fifteen minutes later Buzz was on the table.....The doctor allowed me to stay in the room (on the OTHER side of the privacy curtain - good thing I did, because when the PEG popped out, stomach fluids flew everywhere!)
..Friends, I almost hesitate to post this...I was prepared for the very worst, but again, Buzz amazed me....while I was waiting for Buzz to let out a shriek of pain, I heard the doctor say..."okay, you're all done"....! The nurse taped a 4x4 to the site and that was it! I've determined that Buzz has the highest pain threshold I have ever witnessed!
It's been about 12 hours since the procedure, and Buzz insists that it 'didn't hurt except for a second', and he has had no pain since!
I hope this will encourage others who will eventually get their PEG's removed; I hope that you, too, will have an easy time of it!
Another bridge crossed...Now, if this darned hernia repair will go as smoothly....
Thanks to everyone for your prayers!
