Hi Pete,
I was treated in the UK where IMRT is not as widely available. I had a a large tumour removed from my tongue (about half visible tongue) and a forearm free flap op, followed by chemo and radiotherapy.
However, when I'd read up about IMRT, I asked why I was not being treated with it and was told that in my case, it was not appropriate as, as far as they knew, I was cancer free after the operation and so the radiation was aimed at a wider area where there may be malignant cells, rather than at a specific measurable tumour. It may be that I would not have had the oppportunity to have IMRT anyway and this was sugar coating for me, but I think that the information was correct! smile This might not apply in your case, but from what I have read about your treatment, I thought it might?

Left tongue SCC 3/4 Hemiglossectomy 30TxRtherapy with 6 weekly doses of cisplatin. Completed March 2007
