The subject of religion is perhaps beyond the intent of this site but the fact remains that religion, faith and prayer play an important role in many peoples cancer treatment plans. This thread was started by Gordon who is entitled to his faith. Our replies, I think, should be with his needs in mind. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gordon, I too find that work (the harder the better) is good for the mind. I went through a medatation class to help with the stress. In addition perhaps I should have asked for a anti- anxiety drug.
The thing I want to express is that you will be fine! It isn't a walk in the park but you will get through it. I agree with Gary the radiation is what will "do in" the last bad cell.
Many of us did pretty well with radiation. I have wondered that this web site has possibly an accidental slant towards the worse side effects simply because people are more likely to post here if they have more serious complications and want more help and suggestions.
Rest assured you will be OK!
Take care
Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
