I don't know if you had you meeting with MSK yet. The other two hospitals mentioned, Columbian Presbyterian, and Mount Sinai are the top hospitals in NYC, and country, for cancer and ENT, so that's why your local doctor mentioned to go there. I went to Mt. Sinai. If you go to any of theses, and you should, they would want to do all your treatments with their multidisciplinary team of doctors..MO, RO, ENT, and others. If the commute is too long, over an hour, there is Hope Lodge NYC where you can stay. I did for 6 weeks, and it's a luxury 12 story residence for cancer patients and a caregiver with all sorts of actives and convienances, and it's free. MSK has a shuttle bus every 1/2 hour to pick you up from the Lodge on 32nd street to MSK.
Good luck with the PET, and as mentioned, get all your records since another institution will need them for consultation and or treatment.
