Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 | Patrick - It would be a good idea to always look at the fine print on the pill bottles for whatever cautions or side effects there might be. The doctors or pharmacists don't always tell you. My son was on Zoloft and was very depressed. When I heard that one of the side effects was possibly causing suicidal thoughts, I told my son and sure enough, it was right there on the pill bottle. He checked with his doctor who told him not to worry, that it was only in younger patients that the suicidal thoughts/tendencies occurred. I think, just finding out what may have been making him feel so down helped him to feel to better because he did brighten up a little after that.
