"Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 571 | Transplant patients are given drugs to make sure they don't reject the donor tissue. The drugs suppress their immune system. What a normally healthy person might be able to fight off with their immune system, a transplant recipient has a much more difficult time. Their immune system isn't sufficient to handle cancer or it's treatment.
It is noble to be a tissue donor whether alive or posthumously. Bless you for wanting to help.

ENT agrees with 2nd opinion 5/11. ENT scoped him-all clear 7/11. Ordered MRI anyway. MRI 8/22/11 Result-all clear.
