I really appreciate everyone's input. I nonchalantly told our younger three children (10 yr. old twins and 14 yr old) that I was going down to the hospital for some tests on my thyroid gland and left it at that. I am glad I had at least told them that since I came home in such severe pain from the unsuccessful attempts to do a FNA of the mouth lesion and then felt horrible the rest of the afternoon. My two daughters leave Sunday for a week away at camp so they won't be here when we get the results.

Both of our boys (one of the twins and the 17 yr old) have problems with anxiety. This morning the ten year old had an appt. with his psychiatrist (he sees her every two or three months for medication mgt.). I always have to fill out an update form right before the appt., so I wrote a brief note to her about what is going on. The psychiatrist had me come back alone first and informed me that I had the perfect psychologist for what we are going through. I had no idea, but the psychologist we see (and have been seeing regulary since last fall) specializes in children who have cancer or who have parents or other relatives with with cancer. While I certainly hope everything is benign, it is a comfort to know this is her area of expertise. God works in mysterious ways!
