...left a hole after surgery. I did not realise how deep it was. They put a skin graft there to keep it shallow I thought but it must have come off. This hole collects food and plaque apparently. I bought a water pic so I could pressure wash this void in the base of my mouth. Amazing at the little bits of food that rinsed out.

Now when I look in there with an LED light I see a hole that is pretty deep and it has turned black or dark gray at the bottom and appears to run up my gum to a tooth I tend to bite down on alot making it sore.
I see my surgeon on Tuesday. For my first post Tx follow up. I hope he can explain this with out imposing another round of punishment to my mouth.

Age 52, T2 N0 M0 SCC of left anterior floor of mouth. Esophagoscopy, Direct laryngoscopy, Resection of left anterior FOM lesion w/ lateral tongue. left selective neck dissection levels I-IV. 5x6cm skin graft coverng excision. Finished 33-35 rad Tx. False recurrence 12-22-10 last surgery 2-15-10
