Further blood cultures tested positive for bacteria in the blood and for MRSA. He is receiving antibiotics by iv each day. Does anyone have any experience with this? Im having a hard time finding any information online and I would like to have an idea of what the doctor is talking about tomorrow when we go to his follow up.

Perhaps you could contact him for additional information.

April 2006: Husband dx by dentist with leukoplakia on tongue. Oral surgeon's biopsy 4/28/06: Moderate dysplasia; pathology report warned of possible "skip effect." ENT's excisional biopsy (got it all) 5/31/06: SCC in situ/small bit superficially invasive. Early detection saves lives.

The hospital where Martin for his TX got fined because of how bad it was. Touch wood Martin didn't catch it. I know many people who did get MRSA and were successfully treated via intravenous antibiotics, but i can't tell you exactly which ones. It seems like a tough bug to kill, but they know how to do it now. All I know is that in when in the hopsital I always clean my hands at the disinfectant gel stations, and carry my own little gel. It seems to be the best way to stop it from spreading. I wash my hands and wrists when I change sections/ wards and after i had to touch doors or buttons. I know it seems a bit excessive but I didn't want to spread it anywhere just in case it was on my hands. Hope all goes well.

They were very concerned because of the sores showing up in different places, that it could be in my bloodstream. They hospitalized me and put me on intravenous antibiotics. Biopsies were taken, which in a few days confirmed the mrsa. My room was quarantined, visitors having to wear jump suits and not touch me or my laundry. They told me the big concern was sepsus, where the infection moves into the heart and causes failure. So I also was given 2 different heart scan, which turned out negative. After about a week, I was taken off the iv antibiotics and sent home with antibiotic pills. The treatment must have worked, because everything cleared up.
Stage III BOT, 14 weeks chemotherapy, 7 weeks IMRT. Finished treatment Jan. 2007.
