Has anyone experienced lasting kidney problems due to Cisplatin?
I am inexplicably losing potassium, and all my doctors are at a loss for why this is. It occured to me that it could possibly be a late side effect of Cisplatin, which of course I will bring up with my doctor next time I see her.

Left tonsil SCC, HPV+. T2N0M0. Tonsillectomy 3-07, bilateral radiation, cisplatin 3x, Tx completed 6-06. Clear PET 4-01-2008.
Thyroidectomy 5-9-08, resulting in permanent surgically-induced hypoparathyroidism and adrenal problems. Bummer.

Girlcat 36:
I had induction therapy using Cisplatin and two other drugs. I've check all my blood work, and my Potassium was within the limite, until the end of my 3rd cycle of chemo. It was 3.4 which is just a tiny bit low. I won't have a new blood test for a couple more weeks, but that is my experience with Cisplatin.

Thanks, Sandy!
I am two years out from my last Cisplatin, so I don't think that my docs are even considering Cisplatin toxicity, not sure my endocrinologist even knows I received it.
No one has answers on this, but I don't think any of them considered cisplatin.
I become symptomatic when my potassium is low, so I'd like to get it figured out. I am taking a prescription potassium supplement twice a day, yet still sub-normal.
