My question is...Did anyone ever have problems with sores, I finished tx on 11-4-08 and I'm on my 3rd or 4th sore...They come and go but make me nervous. One sore had gotten fairly large and lasted for about 3 weeks maybe a little longer. The last one lasted about a week but now I have a new one in the same spot. The left side of my face hurts...I really can't tell if it's my jaw or not. I was basically pain free for about 3 or 4 weeks.
I assume this is all part of the healing process...

Are they open sores like canker sores or is it a lump? Are these only around your head and neck or are they inside your mouth? You know the drill, if its there 2 weeks then get it checked, probably by the ENT.
Ive had similar problems with lumps appearing and dissappearing about a week later. None of my docs were ever concerned about it.

On my right tongue. I actually just had it biopsied and unfortunatley I'm having surgery again in February. Mine turned out to be severe dysplasia. I hope this is not the same for you but I would have it checked if it's not gone soon. Good luck...I'll be thinking about you.

I took vit. E as well as a bunch of other stuff after treatments were over. After treatments are over, I think our bodies are pretty used up as far as reserves are concerned. When I took Vit. E it would help with all kinds of healing issues. (even chapped lips). I think this is even more of an issue when PEG feeding has been in place.
Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.

I would ask you too what type of sores? Your Tx finished prior to mine, but I do not have sores in my mouth. A couple of places that are uncomfortable but I just finished radiation 1/2/09.
I know that you answered one of my questions with a list of the meds/supplements that you are taking. Could it be that one of these is irritating your mouth or did the appear prior to taking any of these?
I would have the ENT look at them just for the peace of mind anyway.
