I just wanted to send out hugs and thank you to you all here. Today I think I have had one one the best days since I heard the C word... I went to work for a few hours today...The weather was just unbelievable...I was wanting to go back and have been back a couple of odd days but today seemed special. I was told the word got out that if people wanted to see me I am there on fridays weather permitting.
I did not realize the impact I have made on some people's lives until today...it must have been quite the site a sausage vendor hugging customers. I tell you I didn't realize the amount of prayers and good thoughts and this was just from regular customers...I felt like they were more than customers ...more like extended family...From truck drivers to pencil pushers it made no difference we celebrated all day long...I felt so blessed!!!
Healing is still slow but swelling has come down a huge amount, still have some numbness, and what I call thawing out...the nerves reconnecting is quite painful...as well as the scar tissue is limiting my neck movement but pushing forward...I am checking into massage theropy to help that rather my physiotherapist is checking into it...Anyway this is just a short update but this has been my best day since all this has happened and am looking forward to many many more...

I now need to get ready to go out (evening here).
Going to what is called a girls night in which is being run by a colleague from work and held at a local hall.
These are held all around the country and usually in October..ours is a little late.
It is aimed at raising money for cancer research and with around 100 females expected and lots of sponsors there should be a lot of money raised. The company we work for is also contributing a substantial amount of money.
Even though most of us will wear pink it is not only aimed at breast cancer but will be raising money for all cancers.
My history will be known to quite a few there.
Congratulations again on you�re starting to get back to a (new) normal life.
Only do as much as you feel able to do.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 531 | Awww that's awful we used to feel the same when our gas went up to $1.40/litre now we are at $.82 per litre...it takes a little of the bite out of driving...especially when doctors are 2 hr drive away...
Do you have any pets (besides the rocks in the drive way lol) they can make days warmer...

Congratulations on getting back to work even though it sounds like there was not much work being done. You must be floating to be getting back on the track to a non- medical normal routine even if its not full time yet.
SCC stage II Partial mandibulectomy w. neck dissection- July 2005. Renal cancer w. partial nephrectomy-Jan 2004. Breast cancer discovered in routine mammogram. Successful lumpectomy, sentinal nodes clear, RT only-2008 Reconstruction of mandible w fibula free flap-Jan 09. TORS removal of begnin pappiloma from esophagus-2010. Masectomy,rt breast 2013.

Thats great news that you are able to work again. Its such a wonderful feeling when you start getting back to yor old routine. It makes you feel productive and like you have accomplished something. So glad to hear you are well enough to work, it will make a huge difference.

Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 531 | It really did I could not believe how much I missed it. Well to be honest I did know lol...I don't think I am strong enough to do every day but filling in like I have done well it was good for me and good for the people there it let them know I was OK and I won!!!
My only regret is that it is now the shut down part of the year...because of the cold I will have to wait until spring to get right back in the swing of things but until then well I know that I can do it...

Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 531 | Very very very nice!!! I couldn't drive so husband had to drive and had to set up the cart and do the heavy lifting but I did all the selling and cooking. Also the biggest thing was all the talking lol!!!!!
