Last week I had a biopsy of my tongue that had a hard white spot and the doctor just called and said is was my lichen planus changing and no cancer. I have been battling oral licken planus for years now and it has been erosive for at least five years and the second opinion doctor wanted to removed the part that was erosive and the cancer which would have been over half of my tongue but my cancer doctor from Boston said just remove the cancer and i'm not sure what was the right thing so i'm still living with an erosive right side of the tongue. Now that i have been reading more on Lichen plaus i have to wonder if i did the right thing? Does anyone hear know anything about this disease and can the erosion be healed. I'm glad it's not cancer again but this disease still makes me very nervious. please respond and thank you for reading

As luck would have it, his was one of the cases where it did. I guess the problem is that erosive ulcers can be fairly frequent with this condition and one tends to "live with it" and not be as vigilant at having them checked out. He did have some ointment to use on the ulcers that helped them heal, sorry I can no longer remember the name of it, maybe one of our dentists on the forum will chime in with the name. Since you have had one cancer diagnosis I am sure you are being checked frequently and will hopefully avoid any advanced scc.

Then ended by it coming back and then had to have the rads and chemo . Should have had those 2 1st . I have no signs of anymore so the Drs have told me. Last one told me that Monday of this week. I think we remain afraid of it, but that could be good so we watch more closely than we did the 1st time.
