Did anyone have this side effect from radiation? Radiation is definitely is a gift that keeps on giving. Very depressed. Will not come on site. Just wants to forget the whole experience when finished.

I had Cisplatin. I didn't have ringing in my ears but things sounded muffled. Kind of like when you put a seashell to your ear. Dr. had me do a hearing test before and after chemo. Lost some high-pitched frequency. Can't hear the microwave beep or tea kettle whistle unless I'm right next to it. The car radio is hard to hear too. Hope your friend gets his spirits up. Too bad he won't come to this site. It helps Sooo much just knowing others understand you and so many have gotten thru so much. He's lucky to have you for a friend. Karen

There are tons of people on this site that are in far worse shape with such wonderful and positive attitudes. All of you are an inspiration to me and are lifted up in prayer daily. Thanks so much for all the information that's been given to me.

I would definitely encourage him to have it checked out ASAP.

I too had Cistplatin. I have so many things that I never had before. For instance, my eyesight is deteriorating rapidly. I have had three changes of glasses in the last six months. Pre treatment I had 20 /20 vision, but had to wear glasses for reading, now I am myopic, and to read my pc monitor I have to be about six inches away from it. Plus I woke up one Saturday morning in November and looked in the mirror and saw that I had curly, no not just curly hair, but ringlets. LOL.

Bear in mind I wore glasses before.

I understand that over time the vision will improve. The ringing ears have left me for better ground.LOL.. I was told to put nothing at all in my ears while showering, such as a wash cloth and not to try to dry them on the inside. I did listen and now they seem to be improved at least 90%. Like everything, it all takes time. This dry mouth is what gets to me. I drink so much that I have to stay close to the Bath Room. LOL I drink a lot of water, green tea, V8 juice , ensure , and coffee. Wonder if that's why I have to run so much. LOL J/K, I know it is. I better not forget my Dr ordered daily thick milkshake for calories. My Ins won't pay for the VHC so this shake does help a little, but I just can't put on weight. Still 65 lbs below what I was.
