My husband just noticed a painless, clear, round, raised, hard spot on his mobile tongue today. It is a little smaller than the size of this icon. confused

He's going in for his PET scan on Monday. Although, he doesn't have a doctor consult scheduled for that day.

His treatment was primarily geared toward his throat area as his original tumor was base of tongue. And, his mouth has long since healed.

He is very bothered that there is a spot on his tongue. He asked me to put up a posting to find out if anyone has experienced a similar clear, raised area.

If it's still there on Monday we will see if we can have someone look at it when he has his PET done. However, if anyone can put his mind at ease as to potential reasons why the spot occurred, it will make the rest of the weekend a little easier.

This OC stuff can sure put a person on edge. crazy

Thank you,

Margaret

Margaret,
I understand his and your concerns and hoping all works out in your favor.
Is the spot you mention on his tongue as, "painless, clear, round, raised, hard spot on his mobile tongue", in the center or off to the side? What color is the surface? Does the overlying mucosa or skin look the same as the surronding tongue surface?
If you can answer the above questions I may be able too offer an opinion.
Keep the faith.

Mike

Thanks for the reply, Mike.

The spot is off to the right side and it is towards the back of his mobile tongue. It is a bit on the underside of his tongue. He had to do a bit of contortion-ing with his tongue for me to see it.

The color of his tongue looks normal.

I'm not sure what you mean by the overlying mucose?

Marg: Sending positive thoughts up your way and hoping that this is nothing of concern for the doctors. Let us know after you get one of them to take a look at it!

Marg,

I do hope you get that checked out promptly. This may not be the same as your husband's situation but I get those often on my tongue and inside of my cheek. I used to freak about them and had them checked but they usually resolve themselves in anywhere from 3-10 days. I sure hope everything checks out fine.

Wishing you and your husband only the best.

The spot is getting smaller, although since he has to go to the CCC tomorrow anyways for the PET, I'm thinking a visual scan will be a good idea. I have already e-mailed his NP to see if she can squeeze him in.

Aside from the lump...which Mike told me could just be something as simple as a blocked saliva gland...he is doing really well.

Today, I was surprised he was able to eat sushi with wasabi/soy sauce. Steak is tough and plain rice is hard....but everyday it seems we can find something new for him to enjoy.

Thanks for all the kind replies. Will post when we get the "all clear". smile
