and all went well.had all nodes removed from left side of neck and shoulder.left shoulder is stiff as a board and neck feels as if its about to cramp all the time. the great thing is they were able to leave all the mmuscle and only did slight damage to my smile and shoulder.physical therapy should take care of the shoulder.i go back tomorrow for a checkup and get path reports on the nodes they took out.i am feeling better each day and am getting my strength back. thanks for all of the support from this site, it really made a difference. mo

Just wanted to say that I am so glad to hear all went well. I'll pray for good news from path. Also, my smile is almost completely recovered laugh . Take care and best wishes!!!

i had the same and now two months later i stil have stiffness shoulder is better as i excersise and do more movement. the neck area does get some stiff times if i raise my head or do some walking in distance does this seem normal to others?? im numb under and my ear lobe my scar goes all the way to under my chin and that is where a well gets stiff i found in the cold weather days here in ny

i got my pathology report back and they could not have been better. allnodes on the left side were clear and the node that popped up(how i originally found this)was also clear. thanks for all the support and now just for physical therapy and quarterly checkups with ent.thanks again for all the prayers and support

MO That is good! Did they say what caused the node to become enlarged?


Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
