There is a possibility that it could be fluid, an enlarged lymph node or even a swollen sublingual salivary gland. Good that you are going to have the ENT look at it.
Until you are sure what it is don't fill yourself with the fear of the worst.

What's a sublingual salivary gland?
Age 55, Right side throat with ear pain. Squamous cell carcinoma of the supraglottis with cervical neck metastasis. Stage IV disease with a T3, N2, MX
March 2008, diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Folicular Lymphoma
Now taking Thyroid pills for side effects of Rad Treatments
And Life Goes On...

Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 580 | Ann Marie, Sorry I should have given a better description, under your tongue in the floor of the mouth two major salivary glands the sublingual or sometimes called submandibular glands. The ducts that allow the saliva to enter the mouth are located under the tonge where it meets the floor of the mouth. The following website gives a good description and picture showing their location. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submandibular_gland These can be palpated in most individual as large roundish, semisolid fixated "lumps" under the tongue. I know your fear and frustration and can tell you that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I also have just had a bioposy for the mouth ulcers that just will not go away. I was so frustrated when I called to get the results today
the nurse told me it would take a week before I would have the results. I think the waiting is the worst. Keep us all updated.
