I keep wondering why we can't have a Food forum-i.e. one place where a large number of easy to swallow or really nutritious or pain reducing or appetite enhancing food ideas could be catalogued. I have gotten so many great suggestions and ideas for ways to feed John from this site-but they are scattered everywhere-some have come from direct "question posts" from me-some as I read different forums- and I know I have missed alot. I also know that providing food is a big question on the forum. If there is any interest in pursueing this, I would volunteer my time to get it going. Amy

Where were you? Do you like Florida? Any food forum tips would be great. Thanks, Amy

I am just starting to try to eat things again after being on the PEG. I have bad mouth sores and everything hurts. I'd love to find one place here where I could go.

I think lots of us could benefit from this. Amy

Most of us have a nutritionist as part of our team and most of the tricks for making soft foods, smoothies, etc. are well published information. You might try a search in "all open forums" for food, blender or recipes. Also if you go to the home page and do a search on recipes a vast amount of information will be instantly available to you.

I know you are probably sick of it, but with a sore mouth, you are not going to get much down, and it will not be fun. And what you do get down probably will have no or little taste. When your mouth heals a bit, soft things like ice cream and Jell-O and even oatmeal will go down easy. I used to make thin milkshakes. Truthfully, until I had some taste, I didn'tmuch bother with oral feeding. It was just too frustrating. I think by just continuing to rinse my mouth and then letting it alone, it healed faster. Hang in there! | | |
