C/G to Husband Richard SCC Op 4/1/2005 T2N0M0,Neck disection, 35% of tongue removed. Reoccurance 3/2007,Lymph Node same side Positive SCC, Swelled to 2.5 inches. IMRT X35 Cis X3 Completed 33 IMRT Cis x2 carbo X1 MET to lungs post treatment 10/04/2007 Passed peacefully 31st July 2008.

  Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis.  SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05.  Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

SCC Base of tongue diag. April 04 Stage IV, mets to rt. neck multiple nodes 35 rads+8 boosts First recurrence Jan05. Rt.rad neck dissection Feb02/05. Recurred with bone mets in neck July 05. Committed to survival with dignity.

Only a few people will qualify to participate in these trials.  Qualifying for a clinical trial means that you will have to meet a series of conditions related to the extent of your treatment, the extent and location of the disease, and many more variables. Trials are only of value if they are conducted on a group of like conditioned individuals and double blind. If after all the stages of clinical trials that a company has to put a prospective drug through, if it actually works, then they go before the FDA for approval. This drug has a ways to go first.
