My husband has had 11 SQ injections. Yesterday after his injection, he became very red, with welts over his chest, back, arms, butt. Even the top of his head was very red. Very itchy, felt achy, headache and some difficulty with breathing. The Dr. said that it is very, very rare to have any reaction to Ethyol. Wayne tends to be one that gets the rare happenings. When he was diagnosed with Glaucoma and put on Travatan, he was one of the very few that got an infection from it. They withheld the injection today because the next reaction would be very severe. They are going to research it some more. To say the least, he is very worried about having to take it again. And, he did not have anything other than his usual prior to the injection...the same as he has taken today (with no problems).

I was taken off the Ethol after 7 doses. I broke out from head to toe and felt flu like symptoms. Even after just 7 doses my saliva recovery has been remarkable. I was also told by my docs to take 150mg Zinc for taste buds, and l-glutamine for saliva. I recovered all my taste and about 85% of my saliva. He'll do ok. All my best.

I had a very small reaction to the Ethyol. Red spots at the site of the shot started getting bigger as I kept going. It also made me very nausious about 30-45 minutes after the shot. Anti-nausea meds got that under control and I continued to take Ethyol all the way through my radiation treatment.

I had similar reactions. The rash, itching, and flu like symptoms became more and more intolerable with each shot. My doc thought the safest bet was to stop injections since the reactions were becoming so severe. I only received 10 of them.
Just so you know, I only lost a small portion of saliva production post treatment. Of course your husband's mileage may vary.
I hope the best for you and your husband and if I can be of any assistance do not hesitate to let me know. Best of luck,
Gary
