I am having trouble finding tape that I can tape it to my body without it causing too much discomfort. I have a hairy chest and stomach, so I need some suggestions on what I can do, and what works? I know you all have some good answers.

You wipe the place to be taped with the pad, let the stuff dry and the tape sticks well but also comes off easily. The RO nurse gave us the tape as we needed it but we also found it for sale in a medical supply shop. Barry also has a pretty hairy stomach and this really helped avoid the worst of the pain! Each "wiping" works for several days, then needs to be renewed. We also covered the PEG with a large gauze pad to keep it against the body and protected from our dogs leaping up against it.
(However in Barry's 6th week of treatment, the little internal balloon failed and it fell out -- luckily he never had to use it up to that point. The docs, nurses and nutrition folks all decided he had gotten along so far that it would be more detrimental to re-do the surgery. His was one of a number which failed in same week (bad batch, they suspect)...)

There was lots of tape used to cover that wound and I developed an allergic skin reaction to almost all tape including the paper tape Gail mentions. So after a couple of weeks fooling with taping the PEG to my stomach, I got to where I just stuck the tube into the waistband of my pants and trusted that it wouldn't fall out and flop around when I did that and in general that has worked just fine (a couple of times it came out of the waistband when I was wearing pants that were two sizes too big because I'd lost so much weight but I solved that with some new clothes) .

You might want to shave your stomach and chest. Some of the worst pai I felt was pulling that tape off along with several hairs!!! You can also ask your nurse for the best type of tape to use.
Best Wishes, Danny Boy

I now know why women complin about the dicomfort of wearing a bra. I was able to do yoga at the gym and play golf and never knew the tube was there.
