It scares me because I had bad ear pain before, which actually took me to the dentist to get checked out and then was diagnosed. I talked to my RN & surgeon about it & they said this was "common" after radiation & it could be swelling. I don't want to "overlook" anything. I'll be getting my first PET in a couple of weeks. Has anyone else experienced this??

Yes, I had that too. Don't worry if there is anything there your Scan should pick it up. I would still let them know how much it is hurting.
I still have a small area on the left side of throat that still hurts for some reason. I just keep reminding them and they Double check it on each scan. I am all clear at this time.
Take care, Diane

Thanks so much for your quick reply-it helped!!! I also still have some pain on the left side of my throat which I think is still related to the radiation. Thanks Again!!

He had swelling in his throat for several months after treatment ended but it got better. If they haven't already told you this it's common to have areas "light up" from swelling on the first PET scan. It actually took 3 for Jack to get an all clear report. Regards JoAnne
