Hi All, Just wanted to vent a little while waiting for my rad to start in 10 days. Seemed kind of slow on the board over the holiday weekend. One of my highlights of the day is checking the board for new postings. Feels rather good to be within the company of people going through what I am going through. This forum has been the most informative location of anything I've found regarding oral cancer. Went looking for some books this weekend and there's not any I could find on oral cancer. Plenty of books on Breast & Prostate cancer but nothing on our kind. Will keep looking this week. Two days til my radiation work-up and another week to start the radiation. Can't wait to start knowing it will be that much closer to the end. I'm surprised at how much one can heal after 1 month post op. I still need to slow down and not expect everything so soon but i'm learning. Was never used to sitting or napping, was always on the go. Thats the hardest part of healing for me. I still can't sleep more than 1 to 2 hours at a time before waking up. Wondering if I should take some sleeping pills to try and sleep a whole night thru? Thanks for letting me ramble on and I will keep everyone posted after my radaition starts.
Love Daniel.

hi Daniel,

my wife came home with 'Cancers of the Mouth & Throat' by W Lydiatt and P. Johnson. 2001 by Addicus Books. i was really surprised that she found this book in our small town at the discount book store... it has pretty good general info...

but there is no beating the broad range of info available here at the OCF.

i also had a tendency to sleep... the rule of thumb that i used was that if i continued to sleep thru the night, it was ok to nap during the day... if waking during night, ease off the napping.... that said, i could easily sleep 20 hrs a day with no problems sleeping thru the night..... always active, i adjusted rapidly and enjoyed my sleep... i slept rather than fighting sleepness.

good luck with your upcoming treatments.

cu,
larryb
