SCC R-Tonsil T2 NO MO Dec 2003. Completed IMRT Radiation only to tonsils(72Gy) and neck(55Gy)March 04. Detected at age 50.

Tuesday Feb. 11th, 2004, ironically my wife was hit by a truck & almost killed, broken pelvis, internal injuries, etc. also Feb. 11th, 7 years earlier.
dx 2/11/04 scca bot T3 IU 2B MO poorly differentiated, margins ok, 3/16 modest, jaw split, over half of tongue removed, free flap from left forearm - finished chemo & rad treatment 5/20/04

My second biopsy of a lymph node several months later(using CT-guided needle) took less than 2 days... I had a GREAT ENT who knew I would die if I didn't know quickly with that second one (I had already been diagnosed with SCC several months before)...
I'm glad others suggested the dye and the brush biopsy options for you BObby -- I would ask about that...
Tongue cancer (SCC), diagnosed Oct. 2003 (T2 N0 M0). Surgery to remove tumor. IMRT Radiation 30x in Dec 2003 - Jan. 2004. Recurrence lymph node - radical neck dissection June 2004. Second round of rad/chemo treatments ended Sept. 2004.
