Question: For the last few days I have had numerous sharp pains in the ear on the side where this was done. Anyone else ever experience this? I thought maybe it might just be feeling coming back, but unsure.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma, floor of mouth. T2 N0 M0. Diagnosed January 2004. Partial glossectomy, right neck dissection, removal of floor of mouth, gum, bottom teeth, flap from forearm, skin grafts.

I've had 2 neck dissections, one on each side, several months apart. First one not much pain to ears etc, however second one played heck with the side of my head, ear, pain and hearing wise. Top that off with the side effects from the Cisplatin chemo drug, some days I'm still getting some pain and ringing of ears especially on the side of the second surgery. Ent says this is from the chemo and trauma from surgery. That was 10 months ago
Now, that having been said, I strongly suggest you consult your ENT that did the surgery, and make sure this is post surgery trauma.
Feb 3 is only a little over 2 weeks ago, so you're just in the very beginning of the healing process. Took 4-5 months for the post surgery trauma to settle down. But Ask your Doc.
Keep us posted on how you're doing. Welcome to the board.

I also had modified radical neck dissection to the right side of my neck.
I have experienced problems with my right ear having fluid building up. This has caused my right ear to feel "stopped up". My ENT said that this could be a side affect to the radiation and that in most cases it will get better.
In fact, in the past two or three weeks, my ear seems to be "clearing" a lot better.
However, please ask your doctor for an explaination for your specific case.
Good Luck!
Tony

I did not have surgery. I have some pain, lots of ringing in my ears and loss of hearing at the higher tones. My doctor also said it was from the cisplatin and 5FU.

I had a right side neck disection and a pech flap taken from my right chest. I have had no issues with my ears. I also did not receive chemo but I did receive IMRT radiation.
