Hello

I have been dealing with crazy symptoms since the middle of May this year. My symptoms started with ringing in both ears and my vision wanted to see double easily. A few days later I noticed some low anterior neck pain. A few weeks later, I started to have a sore throat and then I was clearing my throat frequently. I had a CT scan, which did not show anything abnormal at the first of June. I also feel bad on a daily basis, like I have a fever but I don’t. I’ve had night sweats as well. I am 49 years old, but I’ve never had night sweats before this started. I’ve also had some chest pains and headaches here and there. Before May, I didn’t have any medical issues and all my labs were always normal.

I’ve been to 5 ENT doctors, endocrinology, cardiology, and GI. They ruled out thyroid issues, I had an upper endoscopy which was normal. The ENTs have looked down my throat to my larynx and the only thing they’ve seen was some mild swelling of the larynx.

My symptoms persisted and we were going to Europe for vacation, so on June 27th I paid out of pocket for a pet scan, which only showed a slightly enlarged lymph node in my suprahyoid left internal jugular chain measuring 7x9x12 mm. No cancer was found on that scan.

A month later I had a neck ultrasound which showed my left lymph node was 2 cm and my right lymph node was 2.3 cm. Also, my left jaw has been aching in different areas and I also have an ache under my chin. The doctors think the lymph nodes are reactive and not cancer.

I am having an MRI of my neck in the morning to see if anything shows up on that but I feel stuck at this point. I know something is terribly wrong, especially because I feel sick every day!! If anyone has any suggestions or advice on how to get diagnosed, please let me know! I’d appreciate any info!

Thanks,
Kim

After so many tests if doctors are not concerned it may be something other than cancer, you may want to get appointment with head and neck surgeon at cancer center.

I have contacted the Mayo Clinic and was denied. I’m not sure how to get an appointment at a CCC with no diagnosis of cancer and only symptoms and enlarged lymph nodes! Does anyone have suggestions on this? My MRI was rescheduled and now I’m having it tomorrow, so hopefully this gives me some answers.

Also, I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced low anterior neck pain as a symptom of oropharyngeal cancer? And has anyone been diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer after the nasendoscopy did not show anything and a CT and PET scan did not show any tumor?

Thanks,
Kim
