Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 4 | Thanks everyone. This is day 14 and still living as a non-practicing smoker. I can't help but think of lenny's post and the aftermath of his quitting. Freaky, scary stuff. My appointment is tomorrow. Eileen, smokes here are about $9.70 a pack. I already up almost $150!
Fingers crossed for me tomorrow. I have already learned so much from reading posts on these forums that I feel much better off than I was before, regardless of what tomorrow brings. | | |

Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 4 | Update. I went to the ENT guy last week and he didn't seem concerned. He cut a chunk out of my cheek and I have to go back Thursday to review the results. I now have this hole in the side of my mouth, a hole about the size of a molar. Anyway, he said that 90% it's nothing serious. That made me feel so much better but now I find the closer I get to the appt the more nervous I become. That's it. Oh, and this is day 21 not smoking. | | |

Now to get past all the social and habitual rituals... That was hard for me. So many reminders of smoking. I had been without smokes for ten years when I had occasion to eat a piece of coconut cream pie - a desert I hadn't been near for 20 years (my wife is allergic). The first delightful bite INSTANTLY made me want a smoke. I couldn't believe it! Funny how that association/memory stuck with me all those years.
My hat is off in admiration of you quitting. Well done indeed! Be strong. Tom

From 3/03: 10wks daily multi-drug chemo,
Then daily chemo with twice daily IMRT for 12 weeks - week on, week off. No surgery. New lung primary 12/07. Searching out tx options.
