She died on her own terms with her family at her side, after deciding not to pursue further treatment when cancer appeared in her lung in May. Helen was 80. I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to all those who answered questions and offered support during a very difficult 2 1/2 years. This site has been a wonderful source of information and help throughout. I especially want to take my hat off to Brian Hill who's dedication and courage started this endeavor and who through his tireless efforts keeps it going.

I hope that your transition through this process of grieving is rapid, and that what you are left with is not the negative memories of all the treatments and surgeries, but those of the great times that you spent with her over all these years. I would also like to thank you for the donation to the foundation and the many many contributions you have made to the message board to share your experiences with others in the process. Your words of understanding, empathy, and the answers that you offered others based on your own experiences helped people who came in contact with you here. I hope that you will continue to stop by the forum, and when you feel appropriate, continue to add your comments to the postings. While your personal battle is now over, the disease continues to ravage and destroy lives. You insights and now your new experience would still be a valuable contribution to the process here. From the foundation, and from me personally, I want you to know that you and your family have our heartfelt condolences.
