I wanted to know if anyone has experienced pac's of the heart, I have been to the ER numerous times and they claim that this abnormal heart beat can be harmless. I don't know if this is a long term effect of radiation. They say being nervous can be a cause. Has anyone heard of this. thanks, Michele

I haven't seen specific PAC's per se but have lots of palpitations and surges plus my QT interval has lengthened considerably. Anything related to the heart is fair game because of blood flow and the vagus nerve. I have not had a normal EKG since 4 years out in 2007.

PAC's or Paroxysmal Atrial Contractions are a common event. It happens when the electrical stimulus to make the Atria -the upper chambers of the heart - beat , occurs early. They are of no significance. As we age most of us have these and also PVC's. Premature Ventricular Contractions are of more significance if we then have a run of them. By this I mean 6 or more PVC's together. Because if these PVC's continue our heart can go into a lethal arrhythmia.
So please be reassured. PAC's are not harmful and most of us have these.
