I was looking for ANY suggestions on food I might could enjoy. I took my 12th rad today and I'm down to 180 from 210. I'm getting scared. Doc says not to use my PEG until I absolutely can't stand to eat oraly. I'm trying to maintain 3 meals a day but they are small. Eggs in the morn, soups and stews for lunch and supper. It's such a chore to eat.
I think I'm going to try the baked beans, fruit cups.
Also, I'm only drinking water. Is this ok? Do I need juice or some other form of liquid.
The mucous makes me nasuea's all the time.

Dont worry about how long it takes you to eat, just do it. You must swallow every single day and watch your intake very closely. The tube is a tool to suppliment your diet. Here is a list of easy to eat foods. List of Easy to Eat Foods PS.. Your post was moved to its own thread. If you need help navigating please let me know.

You also probably want to consume them as fast as possible so if I were you I would start buying cases of Boost VHC which has appx 560 cals in a small 8 oz can. If you only drink 6 of those a day, you'll get over 3000 cals. Also don't forget about water, at least 48ozs a day. Helps fend off the dreaded Big C.

You don't have to like it and it won't be fun, but eat! Make milkshakes with some protein powder and lots of ice cream and whole milk. I would make those for Kevin every couple of days. It would take him an hour to drink it, but it had tons of calories in it. He still lost a lot of weight though. Kathy

It's also known as the "Cancer Beast". We're all here to Zap it, Destroy it and make it History! And you are on your way to doing just that! So Eat, Eat, Eat!! Maybe 6 small meals instead of 3? It's good you gained a few pounds this week. You say: "Not looking to be so lucky next week with the chemo treatment Monday." If you can manage to get a mental picture of being VERY lucky next week and doing really well with eating, you might do better than you are anticipating. It couldn't hurt to substitute the negative thought with a positive one. Hang in there and you WILL get through it! Maybe you need a cheerleader section? My son's 5 year old daughter and I would jump up and down and cheer loudly if my son just managed to eat one noodle in his chicken soup!

That is so funny! Although your Big C can be troublesome. . . . and not that funny. I think I may just be confused between Big C and Little c. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

I suffered from it during the throws of my Tx and if the pain I experienced is ANYTHING like child birth as I was told then you Moms are something!

Not so much with the Big C, when I think of trying to assume the position on the floor to match the little picture that came with the Fleet thingy, with my glasses falling off, my arthritis getting in the way and then trying to reach for my iPhone so I could count the minutes before I could move to the next step on the chart. Uh-Uh - Hope I never have to do that again! Now on the other hand, when you give birth, and the delightful product of your efforts sees the light of day, everybody cheers and says "Good Job!" And Beautiful Baby! And it's a big celebration!
You don't get that with the Big C. At least I didn't.
